AUDIENCE COMMENTS -

Up North

It's good, meaty drama, well-written and well performed.

-Lee Matthews for the Manawatu Standard

Four Flat Whites in Italy

In true Roger Hall style, Four Flat Whites in Italy manages to be both funny and poignant, and the acting cannot be faulted.

-Michelle Duff for the Manawatu Standard

The four leads pass the ball back and forth, creating laughter and frustration, but more importantly friendship. They remind the audience that travel is about absorbing everything another part of the world has to offer, and a chance to see not only the locals but relook at ourselves... It is a must see!

-Joan Ford for the Feilding Herald

Highlights

Georgia Woods' vibrant voice and dynamic presence sails with ease and versatility through a lively and entertaining parade of famous blondes. There is never a dull moment in 50 minutes of high octane singing and witty presentation - don't miss it.

-Max Cryer.

It's quickly apparent her voice is strong enough to heft a 747 around, but while she shows plenty of flair and personality during each number, at no time was anything over sung. Her vibrato was perfect and in the end it's impossible to doubt her versatility and skill when handling such a range of musical styles.

-David Collins for The Tribune

Wood is a superb hostess, and her show is wonderful fun that no one needs to be blonde to enjoy.

-Richard Mays for The Guardian

Highlights encourages the idea that songs are touchstones which recollect, sort and savour moments in history. The vivacious Wood has done nothing less than capture the sound and heart of a whole lifetime.

-Richard Mays for The Guardian

We really enjoyed Ladies for Hire on Saturday Night.  Cute, and light-hearted for Christmas. In fact we've really enjoyed every show that we have seen this year (we love centrepoint!!!)

Theatre Angel Sponsorship

The traditional name for someone who backs a show in the theatre world is an Angel. A Theatre Angel is someone who loves the theatre; someone who sees art as one of life's essentials, someone who wants their cultural environment to flourish.

WHY WE NEED ANGELS:

The identity of a city is defined not only by its geography, but also by its cultural vibrancy. Imagine our city if there were no arts organisations - no music, no books, no art, no movies, no theatre.

Centrepoint Theatre is a registered charitable trust (the Palmerston North Theatre Trust) and we rely on community support, the generosity of our corporate sponsors, and our major funding bodies Creative New Zealand and the Palmerston North City Council.

Theatre Angel donations allow us to continue to bring you high class theatre and help us to develop our youth programmes such as the Basement Company and Centrepoint Theatre Summer School.

Palmerston North leads the way for provincial centres by having its own professional theatre - the only full-time professional theatre operating outside of the four main centres. Centrepoint Theatre celebrates 35 years of continuous operation in 2009 and we have survived this long because of the support we receive from our community.

If you are considering becoming a Theatre Angel, or would like more information about the Theatre Angel sponsorship scheme, please contact the Box Office on 06 354 5740 or by emailing centrepoint@centrepoint.co.nz.
